MUSIC MINISTRIES HALL OF HONOR

HONORING THOSE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE

Nevo Recognized as the Father of the DG FUMC Music Ministry.

Following the memorable Chapel Choir 50th reunion celebration hosted by the church in June 2023, an entire generation of alumni was driven to honor the living legacy of John Neve (a/k/a "Nevo"). We sought to pay tribute to him, to recognize his profound impact on our church during his 15 years of dedicated service as well as the enduring traditions that continue to resonate even 50 years later. Nevo's impact went well beyond helping us sound better -- he made us better in ways that continue to resonate. We petitioned to honor Nevo for his lifetime of dedication in a way that is visible for past, present and future generations.

In response, the church agreed to create the Downers Grove First United Methodist Church Music Ministries Hall of Honor and to make Nevo -- the father of this legacy -- as its first inductee. The plaque that now hangs outside Chapel Hall recognizes that even now, Nevo continues to have an impact upon our church and its members, inspiring a new tradition of recognizing those who have continued to build upon his foundational work.

We Look Forward to Others Being Recognized

The Music Ministry at DGFUMC has been blessed to have had many extraordinary individuals share their talents with the various choirs over the years. Check back here to hear about others who are being recognized.

“Tour was my escape, I looked forward to it every year. The bonding and friendships I made back then have lasted until this day!"

MIKE MILLER

“Tour was always an adventure, a new city every day, a new church welcoming us, and a new audience to hear our message.”
